Illinois Vehicle Insurance

In the state of Illinois vehicle insurance is required by law for anyone that wishes to operate a motor vehicle.  You must not only have the proper coverage but you must also carry proof of insurance and be able to produce your insurance card to any law enforcement official that asks to see it.

The minimum amount of insurance that you are allowed to have is liability coverage of $20,000 per single injury or death and $40,000 for total injuries or death as well as $15,000 in property liability coverage.  Anyone who drives a car in the state of Illinois must have it least this minimum amount of coverage.  This type of coverage only pays for property damage or injuries to the other parties involved if you are at fault in an accident.  If you wish to have coverage for your vehicle and medical expenses you would need to have a more comprehensive plan.  Anyone driving a newer, or more expensive vehicle would be wise to go with a more comprehensive type of coverage but of course the more coverage you need a more expensive it is going to be.

To save some money it would be a good idea to compare the rates of a number of different insurance providers.  The cost of Illinois vehicle insurance can vary substantially from one insurance provider to another and you could take advantage of these price variations by simply doing a little bit of research and finding a company that offers the coverage you need it the most affordable price.  Getting multiple quotes is easy and only takes a few minutes.  Spending a few minutes online to find the best price could easily save you hundreds of dollars every year on the cost of your premium payments.
